What I'm loving about San Diego

The local grocery store, Whole Foods*, has Hawaiian style leis in stock! They don't have the varieties that you can get in Hawaii but the fact that they carry them is amazing. I love it! Can you tell I'm flower child at heart?

*What a curious name don't you think? So if you want cheaper food do you go to Half Foods or Not all Foods?

Those leis are so pretty! I miss the days of making leis for my friends back home in Hawai'i nei.

Thanks for the post. I feel sort of silly because we too live in San Diego and honestly didn’t know that whole foods sold flower leis. Doh!

Gloria -I would love to learn how to make a lei -I think they are gorgeous. Promise to teach me some day? When I got married I wanted to wear one in my hair -only problem is that where I got married they had no idea how to make one. So I was lucky that my sister made me a small one out of pearls.

Silk -the only reason I even notices them was because I was admiring the orchids -I normally would have never noticed -so don't feel bad! -but now you know! ;-)

The "Whole" in Whole Foods suggests foods that are "unprocessed"... whole wheat flour c.f. folour that's had all the bran and vitamins etc stripped from them. Perhaps in not living in the US you missed the bad ole days when it was had to find food that wassn't processed.

kushkush (from AT. came here looking for your drawer wall which I cannot find!)

they call that store 'Whole Paycheck' by us because everything is so expensive. Good, but expensive.
